OUR VISION IN NIGERIA
The Centre for Small Industry Research and Training (CENSIRT), also known as The Centre for Skill Development and Training is a non governmental, non profit making organization with the aim of addressing the problem of poverty in the communities of Ebonyi State and Nigeria. Poverty is like an elephant and to deliver the poor masses from its clutches, it must be attacked from all angles. The problem is multi-dimensional. Unfortunately, the problems of poverty do not receive adequate government attention in developing nations. The masses on their part erroneously believe that government should provide all their needs but the bitter truth is that government cannot. The value system and illiteracy pose further obstacle. OUR HISTORY
The leader of the founders Evang. Chukwuma Elom has been a Cooperative Officer with a burden to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths. This led him to organise several cooperative societies and established a number of small food processing industries. However, he did not know how to drive the vision further. As he pondered on what to do to realise the vision of job creation for the unemployed, he received a call for a course on "Small Industry Promotion in Developing Economics" at the National Institute for Small Industry Extension Training (NISIET), Yusufguda, Hyderabad, India.
This Training with the extensive field visits to small, medium and large industries in all parts of India brought him to a focus on what he should do. It was in India that the name CENSIRT was born in 1999.
When he returned to Nigeria and was thinking how to commence, he received another call for a course on "Economic and Financial Planning for Rural Areas through the Use of Computer" at the National Institute, Histadrut,  Isreal, where the arrow of this vision was tapered.
On return, he straightaway initiated the Project "Identification of Village Industries and Entrepreneurs" in Ebonyi State which he worked with cooperatives to implement. Men of like minds started gathering around the vision until CENSIRT became  fully blown.

CENSIRT INTERVENTION PROGRAMMES
CENSIRT is a concerted response to the poverty situation in the communities of Ebonyi State and Nigeria. CENSIRT as a back home implementation of International Trainings from the National Institute of Small Industry Extension Training (NISIET) India (1999), and International Institute, Israel (2001) focuses on enhancing the lives of the poor masses in the communities of Ebonyi State and Nigeria through intervention poverty reduction strategies.
